*Living Wage Week 2014 was kicked off on Monday 3rd November with our big event in Salford University, the first time the new LW rate announcement was ever held in the North-West, a wage rise for tens of thousands of workers up to £7.85. It was also the launch of our new report “Living Wage and the Role of Local Government“, and we hosted three workshops with great levels of participation and some exciting ideas generated. There were events, actions, meetings and media opportunities in Bolton, Manchester x2, Salford x3, Liverpool and the Wirral, with coverage including: Manchester Evening News, Bury Times and Bolton News, 2 slots on BBC Radio Manchester, interviews on Salford City Radio and Bolton FM, a report about the University of Manchester Living Wage Campaign, and NW Sunday Politics. The Living Wage was also debated in Parliament, summarised here.
